Recording of Treasurer Training - 10/2/23

BECOMING A TEAM TREASURER

The Team Treasurer is responsible for the collection and distribution of the team’s funds as well as making available an accounting report of the team’s expenditures to the parents. This is a very important role and is a huge help to the Team Manager. The Treasurer must keep all accounting information accurate and ensure all information is being recorded in a timely manner. Please note this does not apply to 8U teams.

Below are all the links to the required trainings and registrations to become a Team Treasurer.

1) USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION

Treasurers are required to register with USA Hockey as a Manager/Volunteer. There is no registration fee for team treasurers. You will be prompted to enter your USA Hockey confirmation number into your Hyland Registration.

2) HYLAND VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION

Once you have your USA Hockey confirmation number, please complete the Hyland Volunteer Registration. When prompted to select a participant to register, select yourself OR choose + NEW PARTICIPANT and add your name and information for this volunteer registration.

3) USA HOCKEY BACKGROUND SCREENING

Background screens through NCSI under the national program will cost $30 for all domestic screens. Reimbursement of your background screen will come out of your TEAM ACCOUNT. Please ensure that you have added this cost into the team budget.

Screening is good for two seasons. NCSI will not allow you to complete a new background screen if your previous screen is still valid.

4) SETUP TEAM ACCOUNT AND SPREADSHEET

Team Treasurers will open up a bank account for the team at a bank of their choosing. This will be a standalone account not tied to the Association.

After clicking the button below, go to "File, Make a Copy" and save a copy to your drive to begin editing.

BECOMING A LOCKER ROOM MONITOR

Each team should have at least 2 locker room monitors. Please note this does not apply to 8U teams.

The presence of adults in the locker rooms is critical to maintaining a safe and positive environment. Over the past five years it has become clear that more than half of all SafeSport incidents reported each year occur in locker rooms. In all but a few cases, there was no locker room monitor present. Whenever players are present in the locker room, there must be at least one screened and SafeSport- trained adult present either in the locker room or near the door (within arm’s length and so the monitor can sufficiently hear inside the locker room), frequently checking and communicating with the players so they understand they are being monitored. Coaches can act as locker room monitors, however, we strongly encourage volunteer parents to fill this role to enable the coaches to focus on game or practice planning and preparation.

Below are all the links to the required trainings and registrations to become a locker room monitor.

1) USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION

Locker room monitors are required to register with USA Hockey as a Manager/Volunteer. There is no registration fee.

Please ensure that your treasurer has added this cost into the team budget.

Screening is good for two seasons. NCSI will not allow you to complete a new background screen if your previous screen is still valid.

4) SAFESPORT TRAINING

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is an independent non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. SafeSport Training is required for all equipment managers and trainers. The Safe Sport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for twelve (12) months beginning on 4/1/22.

There is a core course followed by three refreshers - only ONE course needed per season. Once you sign in you will be automatically directed to the appropriate course.
